On Saturday 22 August, one of our close ambassadors invited 40 friends and acquaintances to attend a dinner at the prestigious Gstaad Yacht Club in Switzerland.

After a friendly aperitif gourmand allowing the guests to meet each other, our dear ambassador told us her emotional story and shared with us all her personal experience and how she had benefited from the progress of breast cancer research.

Martine Piccart, Chair of BIG, explained how new technologies are helping some patients to be spared from unnecessary treatments and how they have enabled researchers to define better treatment pathways. She pointed out the true local impact of international research.  She also clarified the key role of academic research and the difficulty but necessity to fund it.

Just before dessert, Serge Schmitz, the International Fundraising Director, presented one example of a BIG international academic study: ‘’BIG Time for Baby’’ (scientific name: Positive), aimed at young women who survived breast cancer and wish to have a baby while following an hormonal therapy to avoid the cancer to come back. Many attendees shared their sensitivity to the cause and their strong intention to support BIG and the tremendous work they are doing.

How about you?  Would you be interested in organizing such a ‘’BIG moment’’, in your favorite Club, at home, in a place close to your heart?  It’s a great opportunity to spend a moment with friends and your community while learning more about breast cancer research and get all inspired by such a meaningful cause.
