Clinical Trials

clinical_trials_page.jpg

A clinical trial is a research study, relying upon human volunteers, that allows scientists to investigate and answer specific medical questions. Trials are important for studying new treatments for all stages of breast cancer.

Facilitating international clinical trials is at the core of BIG's mission, and for that reason we have developed a slides presentation to explain the basics of clinical trials.

The presentation explains:

  • What is a clinical trial?

  • What do trials accomplish?

  • What do clinical trial "phases" mean?

  • What is a trial protocol?

  • How are patients recruited?

  • Do all patients receive the same treatment

  • How long does a trial last?

  • What are the risks and benefits of participating in a trial?

  • Why support clinical trials?
